2-D Gas Simulation
This is a model of a two dimensional gas. The disks move with random motion
around in this box with periodic boundary conditions. When one disk
approaches another, it feels a square potential well of radius r.
They may not overlap,
that is, if one disk tries to move within a radius R<r
of another,
it encounters an infinitely tall potential barrier.
By moving the slider control, one can adjust the temperature in the simulation.
Note that at high temperatures (slider to the left) the interaction between
the particles becomes irrelevant and they behave as a free gas. At low
temperatures, (slider to the right) however, the disks feel the potential well
much more and tend to together in an almost solid state.
